Common questions

How much does catering cost per plate in Coimbatore?

Catering in Coimbatore costs ₹150 to ₹900 per plate. A tiffin or breakfast spread runs ₹150–₹280, a traditional banana leaf saapadu ₹250–₹450, a corporate buffet ₹180–₹320, and a full wedding feast ₹450–₹900. Price depends on the number of dishes, live counters and serving staff you choose.

How far in advance should I book a wedding caterer in Coimbatore?

Book your wedding caterer 45 to 60 days in advance. For peak muhurtham dates in the Tamil wedding months of Thai, Panguni and Vaikasi, book 90 days ahead — those dates fill first. Smaller functions of under 100 guests can usually be confirmed with two weeks' notice.

What is the minimum number of guests for catering?

Our minimum order is 25 plates. Below that we can still supply packed meal boxes rather than a full on-site setup. There is no upper limit — we regularly cater weddings of 3,000 to 5,000 guests, and larger counts simply need more advance notice for kitchen and staff planning.

Do you cook the food at the venue or deliver it?

We cook on site at your venue for all functions above 100 guests. Our mobile kitchen, vessels and cooks arrive several hours ahead, so food is served fresh and hot rather than reheated. For smaller orders and corporate lunches we cook in our kitchen and deliver in insulated hot cases.

Do you cater both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food?

Yes, we cater both. We run two physically separate kitchens: a strictly pure-vegetarian sattvic kitchen where no meat or egg ever enters, used for Brahmin and temple functions, and a separate non-vegetarian kitchen with its own cooks and vessels for chicken, mutton and seafood menus.

Is your Brahmin food really cooked separately from non-veg?

Yes. Our sattvic menus are cooked in a dedicated pure-vegetarian kitchen with separate vessels, separate cooks and separate transport. No meat or egg enters that kitchen at any time. Non-vegetarian food is prepared by a different team in a different kitchen, so there is no cross-contact.

Is your food completely onion and garlic free?

Our sattvic menus are, on request, prepared with no onion and no garlic in our dedicated pure-vegetarian kitchen. For weddings, upanayanams, seemanthams and temple functions we cook the full sattvic menu under madi purity standards. Our regular veg and non-veg menus do use onion and garlic.

What is the difference between veg and non-veg catering prices in Coimbatore?

Non-vegetarian catering costs roughly ₹80 to ₹150 more per plate than vegetarian. At SS Catering & Events vegetarian menus run ₹150 to ₹900 per plate, while non-vegetarian menus run ₹300 to ₹1,100 per plate depending on whether you choose chicken, mutton or seafood dishes.

What non-veg dishes do you serve for weddings in Coimbatore?

Our non-vegetarian wedding menus include Chettinad chicken curry, mutton biryani, pepper chicken, fish fry, prawn masala, chicken 65 and mutton kuzhambu, served alongside a full vegetarian spread. Most Coimbatore weddings book a combined menu so both veg and non-veg guests are served properly.

Which areas of Coimbatore do you serve?

We cater across all of Coimbatore city including RS Puram, Gandhipuram, Peelamedu, Saibaba Colony, Saravanampatti, Singanallur, Vadavalli, Ganapathy, Kalapatti, Kovaipudur and Ondipudur. We also travel to Tirupur, Pollachi, Erode, Mettupalayam, Ooty and Palakkad for weddings, with travel charged separately.

Do you provide serving staff and cleanup?

Yes. Uniformed serving staff cost ₹40 per plate and are trained in the traditional banana leaf serving sequence. The team handles setup, serving, and clearing of vessels and leaves after the meal. Table and pandal decoration is arranged separately on request.

What is included in a traditional Brahmin wedding saapadu?

A full Brahmin wedding saapadu includes a sweet such as Asoka halwa or Mysore pak, vadai, rice, sambar, rasam, avial, kootu, poriyal, payasam, curd, appalam, pickle, ghee and paruppu podi — all served on a banana leaf in the traditional sequence, with no onion or garlic.

How much advance payment is needed to confirm a booking?

A booking is confirmed with an advance deposit, with the balance settled after the event based on the final headcount served. We give an itemised quote before you pay anything — there are no separate transport, service or setup charges added later. Call 086675 66318 for current terms.

Can you cater a griha pravesam with both morning tiffin and afternoon lunch?

Yes, and it is one of our most common bookings. We serve pooja prasadam and a hot tiffin spread of ghee pongal, idli, vadai and filter coffee for homam guests in the morning, then a full banana leaf lunch in the afternoon. Combined packages start around ₹400 per head.

Do you offer bulk discounts for large weddings?

Yes. Discounts apply automatically by guest count: 5% above 200 guests, 10% above 500 guests, and 15% above 1,000 guests. The discount is applied to the per-plate rate before your quote is issued, so the figure you see is the figure you pay.

Can I customise the menu or swap dishes?

Yes, every menu is fully customisable. You can swap payasams, add regional specialities such as Chidambaram kathirikai gotsu or Malabar avial, or build a menu from scratch with our cooks. Send your dish list on WhatsApp and we will price it and confirm feasibility for your guest count.

Do you cater corporate lunches on a regular contract?

Yes. We run daily and weekly office lunch contracts for companies across Avinashi Road, Peelamedu, Saravanampatti and Kalapatti tech parks. Corporate buffets start at ₹180 per plate, packed hot tiffins are available for desk delivery, and monthly invoicing is standard for contract clients.

Are you open for bookings at night?

Yes, we take bookings 24 hours a day, seven days a week on 086675 66318 and WhatsApp. Wedding breakfasts often require dispatch by 4 am, so our booking and kitchen teams work around the clock rather than to office hours.
